Every object is really an arrangement of lines, when seen by our eyes. It is only after analyzing the lines that our mind recognizes the shape and labels the object: table, Oh, that is a cat, a horse, a sombrero, our strange neighbor Phillipe. One goal of abstraction is to manipulate lines until the human eye and mind cannot make sense of what is seen, and is stuck in continuous confusion, attempting to relate and gain an advantage. While some initial resemblances may come to mind, such as constellations, underwater life, and circuitry, my lines are an attempt not to resemble anything real, thereby freeing the imagination to consider possibilities beyond reality. Any remark on what my drawings look like is listened with interest, but ultimately is an irrelevant attempt of the human mind to grasp what is truly weird art.
